Sam pursues an expanding range of artistic projects. He accepts commissions as well as pursuing his own muse, creating mixed media paintings and multimedia glass and sculpture work - some measuring 26 feet long - that have been featured in solo gallery shows and are now installed in homes around the country. Most of Sam's art builds on, stylizes and expands on natural forms, creating a different view of the inherent beauty. His "tree mirrors" use formed lead as the structure with the mirror becoming a negative backdrop - these pieces hang in cities across the country as well as in several celebrity homes. In 2003, his glass and mirror art sculptures were featured in a solo exhibition at the Jules Gallery in Portland.
Sam continues to explore new artistic venues including learning new skills to support his vision. For example, he will soon be studying jewelry making so he can begin to set semi-precious stones for a series of Russian-inspired pieces.
"Sam wields his creativity with a confidence and control that make working with him a joy. Whether he is executing your vision, or developing something that you don't even know yet how much you are going to love, his attention to detail, and truly diverse arsenal of experience, will leave you thrilled with the result. He's capable of whimsy, historical accuracy, true elegance, and art for art's sake, all the while his small town roots ground everything in a level of practicality that I personally find refreshing in a field where it's so easy to get lost in excess. He is as wonderful a guide through the creative process, as he is a receptive collaborator. Don't limit yourself to what you know... take Sam's hand and walk out into a world of options... you won't regret it!"
